ICS FUN FACTS
**ICS now has 209 students enrolled in grades K-8
**Several ICS artists received awards at the UD “Nativity Through Children’s Eyes” exhibit, on display in the UD
Library. Matt Barnes won $50 , Katy Mikola won $25, and Philip Connair, Georgie Ravelli, Kasey Riffey, and Gabby Tunney received Honorable Mentions. Congratulations to all of our talented students whose work was submitted!
**ICS students collected 564 pairs of socks for St. Vincent DePaul.
**The Kindergarteners recently visited Aullwood Farm to see the real ‘friendly beasts’ and to make hand-dipped beeswax candles.
**First and second graders celebrated St. Nicks Day with a service project: they made placemats for Huffman Place Senior Community Center Christmas Party
**Student Council sponsored a sucker sale, with proceeds to go to the Giving Tree
**IC Daycare has moved to their new rooms in the junior high wing, and offers preschool for ages 3-5, in addition to all-day care, and after school programs for ages 6-11.

BASEBALL/VOLLEYBALL SIGNUPS
ICS Baseball/Volleyball signups will be held Tuesday, Dec. 19 and Wednesday, Jan. 3 from 5:30pm – 7:00pm in MSH. Students in grades 4-8 are eligible; the cost is $35 for baseball and $45 for volleyball. Please call Barbi Byrd for information.

FISH FRY
Yes, it’s that time of year again…time to start lining up our volunteers for the annual ICS PTO Fish Fry. If you would like to chair a booth (we really need Kitchen and Black Jack chairs!), work in a booth, help cook and/or clean up, please call Andrea Ravelli at 252-2923, or Barbi Byrd at 256-0625. Admission tickets will be available beginning Jan. 16 in the School and Rectory Offices during regular business hour; tickets are $9 in advance and $10 at the door.

CERTIFICATE AND SCRIPT PROGRAMS
There are so many easy ways to benefit our school when you shop at local businesses!

KROGER offers community rewards with their reloadable cards. Simply purchase a card at church or school for $5 (the $5 value is already loaded on the card), and load your card before purchasing your groceries. At the end of the month, Kroger send ICS a check for a percentage of purchases—the more purchases, the higher the percentage.
SHERWIN WILLIAMS has a rebate program. ICS cards are available in the vestibules. TARGET charge customers can designate ICS as their partner by registering at the customer service desk or online at Target.com
The SUNU COLLECTION at the Fairfield Commons Mall is a new vendor on our list of community partners. The store carries olive wood sculptures, mother of pearl items, rosaries, and much more, and will remit 10% to ICS; pick up a flyer in the main vestibule.
In addition, we also have a terrific script program where you can purchase gift certificates from national retailers, restaurants, gas stations, and more. See the order forms in the vestibules, online at icdayton.org, or contact Judy Markley at 254-2805.
As always, Kohl’s and Dot’s certificates are available through the church and the school. Kohl’s certificates may be used to pay on Kohl’s charge card bills, or as cash in the store. Dot’s certificates provide the parish with a percentage of each certificate sold.
Please patronize these businesses AND help our school at the same time!

EDCHOICE VOUCHER PROGRAM
The next EdChoice application period will run from Jan. 27, 2007 – Apr. 20, 2007 for the 2007-2008 school year. Eligibility for a scholarship is determined by attendance and/or assignment to a school that has been rated in “academic emergency” or “academic watch” for the past three years. A list of these schools is posted on the EdChoice website at http://EdChoice.Ohio.gov, or you may call the school office at 253-8831.

PARISH NEWS

A NEW BEGINNING
Advent and the new liturgical year began last weekend and Immaculate Conception will celebrate “The Year of Grace”, with a new parish prayer written by Fr. Tony. You will find this prayer in the back of the Ritual Song hymnals, in the vestibules of the Church, and in the Rectory and School Offices.

ST. VINCENT HOTEL
Thank you to our generous parishioners who, in November, donated 14 buckets of chili soup, 19 cans of vegetables/fruit, eight batches of cookies, $110 in cash, and 25 pairs of gloves! We used some of the money to purchase ingredients to make four buckets of soup.
We also thank everyone who contributed to the December collection for gloves and meat. We received over $632, and were able to purchase 72 pairs of gloves and 43 lbs of pork loin, leaving over $260 to purchase more gloves, cookies, and vegetables. Thanks to the volunteers who manned the vestibule doors last weekend, to everyone who contributed money, and all who contributed gloves – especially the anonymous donor who dropped off a bag with 26 pairs!

PARISH RECONCILIATION SERVICE
There will be a Parish Advent Penance/Reconciliation service on Tuesday, Dec. 12 at 7:00pm in the Church. Four priests will provide the opportunity for private confession.

FREE SPIRITS
The Free Spirits Christmas party will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 13 at 1:00pm in MSH. There will be a $2 gift exchange; men, please mark your gift for a man, and women, mark your gift for a woman. Special guests include Santa and Mrs. Claus! Bring a snack and a friend to share the spirit of Christmas.

ROSARY ALTAR
Reasons to attend the Rosary Altar meeting/party on Dec. 19 at 12:00pm: lots of food, fun, favors, Polish Poker, wonderfully tasty side dishes, and a gift exchange. Bring a covered dish and a $3 gift to exchange, and we’ll see you in MSH on the 19th!

RETIREMENT FUND FOR RELIGIOUS
The average Catholic family spends $12 per year on cookies, $21 on potato chips, and $29 on take-out coffee. Donations to the Retirement Fund for Religious average a little more than $1 per year per adult Catholic. The RFR benefits more than 37,000 elderly women and men religious who received only small stipends for their decades of service. Your gift makes a difference! Please give to the second collection this weekend.

GIVING TREE
If you have taken an ornament from the Giving Tree, please return your gift with the ornament attached no later than Sunday, December 17, so that we can have the gifts delivered by Christmas. Thank you! If you have questions, please call Ann Gibson at 472-2664.

CDs & DVDs FOR SALE
Fr. Satish has prepared a CD featuring “Bread of Life” and “The Eucharist Step by Step”; and a DVD with “The Eucharist Step by Step”. The CD sells for $20, the DVD for $15, and both can be purchased for $30. The monies raised will benefit India missions and the IC Adult Faith Formation, Ite Missa Est. You can purchase the CDs and DVDs after masses, or in the Rectory during regular business hours.

CHRISTMAS SCHEDULE
Join us in celebrating Christmas! We will hold a Vigil Mass on Dec. 24 at 5:00pm, with carols at 4:30pm; Midnight Mass with carols at 11:30pm; and Christmas Day Mass at 10:00am.

All are welcome to participate, and you will have the opportunity to evaluate the proposed model through a survey after hearing the details and discussion points at the forum.

We have a team of 13 people who pray daily for all the requests we receive, and we invite you to join this ministry. Call Barb Kohlreiser at 258-0207 to submit a prayer request or to join the team.

The holidays can be a stressful time for those who have been harmed by sexual abuse, especially by representatives of the Church. Counseling is a vital part of the healing process for these survivors. The Counseling Assistance Fund, created by the Catholic Conference of Ohio, can help individuals who are reluctant to contact the Church for help. For more information or to submit a claim, see www.conselingassistancefund.org.

OUTREACH
When was the last time you wondered where your next meal was coming from? Our St. Vincent DePaul food pantry hears daily from our neighbors who are in need of food for their families. We appreciate all you can give…but please, we CANNOT accept items that are past their expiration dates.
