A YEAR OF PRAYER FIRST SATURDAY DEVOTIONS AT I.C. Join us each first Saturday at 8:15am for Mass, Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, Rosary, seasonal litany, and Benediction each First Saturday of every month beginning at 8:15 a.m. in Church. Mass, Exposition, Rosary, Seasonal Litany, and Benediction are currently celebrated Mondays through Fridays beginning at 8:15 a.m. in the Chapel, any time there is not a school mass. VOCATION VIEWS Our communion with Jesus unites us will all believers. As you participate in the Eucharist pray that the Church may be strengthened as the Body of Christ. (John 6:41-51) SUMMER HOURS Through August 25, the Rectory Office will be open 8:00am – 12:00pm Monday through Friday, and by appointment. FESTIVAL NEWS Thanks to all who have volunteered/and are supporting the 51st Annual Parish Festival. Make sure you stop by the festival grounds on Saturday, open till 10”30pm, and Sunday 1:00pm – 10:30pm. Check out the new booths, have something to eat at the Indian Booth, or have a variety of other foods. Enjoy a beverage at the Beer Booth, Soft Drinks trailers, or Smoothie Booth, and play a few hands of Showdown. Don’t forget to check out the treasures at the Flea Market! There are plenty of activities for children. Come. Enjoy. Thanks. RCIA/ADULT EDUCATION RCIA will resume on Sept. 10, 2006, 9:00am – 10:30am. Keep an eye on the bulletin for more details. FORTIETH ANNIVERSARY On Sunday, Oct. 1, 2006, Bishop Kaising will be here to celebrate mass at the 40th anniversary of the church dedication. A short reception follows in MSH; a luncheon follows given by Serra International at the Engineers Club for priests and religious. If you would like to join them, the cost is $15/person. Ministry Day has taken on a brand new format. Your presence at Ministry Day is vital to the overall spiritual well-being of parish ministry. Refresh your skills, your commitment, and your enthusiasm! PARTNERING Coming to Dayton on Wednesday, Oct. 25 is Sr. Helen Prejean, Catholic activist who works in prison ministry, and central figure in the movie Dead Man Walking. Sr. Prejean has also written The Death of Innocents, which discusses the treatment of the imprisoned poor. In preparation of her visit, the St. Helen Book Club invites you to join them in the Big Catholic Read and discussion of that book. Discounted copies may be prepaid and ordered through St. Helen’s ($11.20, payable to St. Helen Parish) no later than Aug. 27. CONTINUED RESTORATION FUND UPDATE Great News! Private donors have offered us a challenging opportunity: for every dollar donated by the parish, they will match it dollar for dollar, up to $25,000. This will make a big difference in funding our next project, which is replacing the church sound system. Total to Date $ 24,336.00 July $ 3,037.00 Total $ 27,373.00 EDUCATION FUND UPDATE The Education Fund currently has a matching grant program. For every two dollars donated to the Education Fund a generous donor will match it with one dollar. Thank you for your support and generosity to the Education Fund. The monies currently being collected will allow IC to continue to have tuition aid available for our qualifying families in the future. Total to Date $ 18,892.00 July $ 1,086.00 Total: $ 19,978.00 The Restoration and Education Funds are “restricted”: they do not reflect nor impact the regular operating budget which depends on your weekly tithe contributions to the Church.

School News

WELCOME BACK STUDENTS AND FACULTY! You can “Meet the Teacher” on Tuesday, Aug. 22, from 6pm-7pm. You can pick up your White Envelope information, buy your lunch tickets, check out the used uniforms in the Auditorium, and pick up your gym clothes. OFFICE HOURS The School Office will be open from 8:00am – 12:00pm Monday-Friday until Aug. 22. After school begins on Aug. 23, the Office hours will be 7:30am – 3:30pm. FISH FRY 2007 Calling all fish lovers! We need a new co-chair for Fish Fry in place before school starts. Please call Chris and Ginger Dahm at 258-8189 to give your time and talent to our school. DAYCARE HAPPENINGS In addition to our two preschool programs we will offer an after school program beginning August 23rd. Our program is not the latch key program, but rather a licensed program by the State of Ohio. The after school age groups are: 5 -- 11 and 11 – 14. Registrations are required for all participants, even those who were in one of our programs last year. The forms can be obtained by visiting the school web site or by contacting the school. Registrations were due by August 4th; please contact the Daycare as soon as possible if you are interested as space is allocated on a first come, first served basis. PARISH REGISTRATION/CHANGE OF ADDRESS Visitors and Friends: Welcome to Immaculate Conception Church! The only sure way to become a registered member of the parish family is to fill out a registration form (below) or a pew card; drop either in the collection basket, or return it to the rectory office. There is no automatic registration if you attend mass regularly, or even if your children attend Immaculate Conception School or Immaculate Conception Religious Education Classes. UD LIFELONE LEARNING INSTITUTE (UDLLI) The UD LLI offers senior adults in the Greater Miami Valley opportunities to join other seniors in a wide variety of informal discussion seminars based on the peer-learning concept. We are now accepting registrations for our UDLLI Fall Program, which begins Sep. 11, 2006. For more information contact the Special Programs and Continuing Education at UD, 229-2347. SPIRITUAL DIRECTION A 24-week course held every Tuesday from 6:30pm—9:30pm, Sep. 12—Dec. 5 will give participants the ability to become spiritual directors. In partnership with the UD Religious Studies Dept., classical and modern understandings of spiritual growth will develop the ability for participants to walk with others on their spiritual journey.
