WINNER’S CIRCLE PROGRAM CHANGES
Winner’s Circle program will follow a new program guideline beginning November 1, 2007. The new format will consist of the numbers for Winner’s Circle being pulled by committee members on Sunday evenings for the upcoming week. The numbers will then be posted in the church main vestibule on the Winner’s Circle board. Each ticket sold after the first of the month will be sold in a sealed envelope. Tickets are available at the parish rectory office, after mass the last weekend of each month or from individual sellers throughout the parish community. Sellers – please place all ticket stubs in an envelope marked Winner’s Circle when returning them to the rectory office. Thank you for your continued support of the Winner’s Circle program.
WORLD MISSION SUNDAY
Thank you for your generosity on World Mission Sunday! Our parish offered $1,539.00 to the Propagation of the Faith for the missionary work of the Church. This is a real blessing for the Missions! Please continue to pray for the missionaries – and for the people to whom they bring the “Good News” of Jesus. May God bless you for your generous missionary spirit.

Parishioners who have lost a loved one since November 1, 2006, who have not been buried from Immaculate Conception, but would like to be included in the Vespers service November 2, please contact the rectory at 252-9919 and give name of deceased, date of death, and the family member’s information. All other parishioners who have buried family or loved ones from Immaculate Conception are included in the memorial Vespers service. FALL RUMMAGE SALE
The annual Fall Rummage Sale will be on Saturday, November 10 from 9:00am to 4:00pm. Donations will be taken in on Wednesday, November 7 through Friday, November 10 from 10:00am to 6:00pm. Please bring items down the ramp behind the church into the basement. All appliances must be in working order, no soiled or torn furniture, typewriters, and computers. BAKE AND CRAFT SALE
The annual Bake and Craft Sale will also be on Saturday, November 10 in the choir room. Donations will be taken on Friday, November 9 from noon to 6:00pm. The Human Services Levy, Issue 20, is on the November 6 ballot for renewal. This levy provides the funds to care for Montgomery County’s most vulnerable citizens and for those families who have nowhere else to turn. RECLAIMING FUTURES
Each year 6,000 to 8,000 youth enter Montgomery County Juvenile Court. Between 60-80% of them are likely to be involved with drugs and alcohol, yet most are not getting the help they need to break their addiction. Become part of Montgomery County Juvenile Court’s initiative, “Reclaiming Futures” by volunteering to become a mentor to court-involved youth and their families. NEED FOR TEEN WORKERS
Knights of Columbus is looking for teens to work a Christmas Dinner at Mangan Hall on Saturday, December 8 from 4:00pm to 12:00am. Teens must be 16-18 years old with own transportation. CHILD PROTECTION CLASS
The next Child Protection Class will be on Monday, November 5, 2007 at 7:00pm at St. Anthony Church inside the Franciscan Center.
OUTREACH EVENTS
When was the last time you wondered where your next meal was coming from? Our St. Vincent DePaul food pantry hears daily from our neighbors who are in need of food for their families. To help keep our shelves stocked, we have placed a barrel in the main vestibule for you to drop your food and other non-perishable donations. We appreciate all you can give…but please, we CANNOT accept items that are past their expiration dates.
ST. VINCENT HOTEL SEPTEMBER MEAL
St. Vincent hotel received $204.00 in cash donations that was used to purchase 6 lasagna casseroles costing $48.94, leaving a balance of $155 that will be used for future purchases as needed. St. Vincent also received donations of 19 casseroles and 24 canned goods. Please remember the hotel by making a casserole or buying a canned vegetable or fruit. The next sign-ups will be on October 27-28 in the main vestibule. Thank you for your support and keep up the good work.

In Luke 11:9, Jesus says to us, “Ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find; knock and it shall be opened to you.” We encourage you to call the Prayer Chain anytime you, a friend, neighbor, or relative is in need of prayer. TAX STATEMENTS
Due to recent changes in tax laws, beginning with contributions made in 2007, parishioners (who itemize their tax returns) will no longer be able to deduct contributions to the parish unless they maintain a bank record or written contribution statement from the parish. If you wish to ensure deductibility of your contributions, please use a check or your parish envelope. The parish will track contributions made using parish envelopes, and will, upon request, produce a written statement of contributions made during 2007. Cancelled checks and other bank records are also sufficient documentation. The parish cannot track cash contributions not in parish tithe envelopes. If you do not have tithe envelopes, call the office at 252-9919, and we will get them ready for you.

EDUCATION FUND UPDATE
The Education Fund matching grant program has been renewed. For every two dollars donated to the Education Fund, a generous donor will match it with one dollar. ICS report cards go home with students on Monday, October 29.
Mrs. Peg Barnhart has joined the school staff as the new music teacher. She will be teaching two music classes per grade each week, leading the children’s choir and directing the music for the Friday Mass. Welcome Mrs. Barnhart!
School is closed Thursday, November 1 and Friday, November 2.
Students who plan to attend Alter or C-J for the 2008-09 school year must take the placement test held on Saturday, November 17. Registration for testing is required.
As a reminder, school uniform pants, or sweatpants over gym shorts, must be worn beginning November 1.

A Latin Mass will be said at Our Lady of the Rosary Church (Old North Dayton) on All Saints’ Day, Thursday, November 1 at 7:00pm. On All Souls’ Day, Friday, November 2, three Latin Masses will be said at 7:30am, 8:00am, and 12:00pm at Our Lady of the Rosary.

HEBREW AND CHRISTIAN SCRIPTURE
Participants in this class will gain a basic understanding of contemporary Catholic biblical criticism and also an understanding of the major themes of the Hebrew and Christian Scriptures.
