A YEAR OF PRAYER

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION AND PRAYER
The parish theme for the new liturgical year is “Prayer". On the first Tuesday of each month, the Church will be open for prayer and adoration from 10:00am – 7:00pm. (Adoration is not exposition or benediction; it is simply adoratory prayer before the Blessed Sacrament contained in the tabernacle, and it is powerful.) Come pray for the parish and for all parishioners; pray for peace; pray for an increase in priestly and religious vocations. We are asking a commitment of one hour per month.

FIRST SATURDAY DEVOTIONS AT I.C.

Join us each first Saturday at 8:15am for Mass, Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, Rosary, seasonal litany, and Benediction each First Saturday of every month beginning at 8:15 a.m. in Church. Mass, Exposition, Rosary, Seasonal Litany, and Benediction are currently celebrated Mondays through Fridays beginning at 8:15 a.m. in the Chapel, any time there is not a school mass.

VOCATION VIEWS

To be God’s servant, we must follow Jesus.  Have the desire to see where Jesus lives.  Serve the poor and marginalized.  (John 12:20-33)

THROUGH THE TUMMY TO THE HEART
Frances Franchina will lead the fourth in the “Through the Tummy to the Heart” series on Wednesday, Apr. 5 in the Rectory at 6:30pm.  The Precious Blood and Passion of Jesus will address the spirituality of the Precious Blood and Passion of Jesus, focusing on the life, mission, and ministry of St. Gaspar Del Bufalo, founder of the Missionaries of the Precious Blood, and the Mercy Sunday/Devotion as give to modern-day evangelist St. Faustina of Poland.  The gathering begins at 6:30pm, and the program runs from 7:00pm –9:00pm.  The $10 fee includes the seminar and sampling Frances’ favorite recipes for Frito Misto (Italian fried veggies) and Salada Verde.  For more information and to register, call Frances at 901-4475.

ROSARY ALTAR
  • The Easter Bake Sale is coming up!  Mark your calendars for Saturday, Apr. 8 from 10:00am – 6:30pm, and Sunday, Apr. 9 from 10:00am – 12:30pm. They will serve sandwiches on Saturday morning, and donuts, coffee, and juice on Sunday morning.   Donations of baked goods, candy, and crafts can be dropped off on Friday, Apr. 7 from 1:00pm – 6:00pm in MSH. For more information call Alice Schulte at 293-8773.
  • Our Spring Rummage Sale will be held on Saturday, Apr. 29 from 9:00am – 4:00pm.  We will take donations on Apr. 25-28, from 10:00am – 6:00pm in MSH.  All items MUST be in working order, and not torn or soiled. We can’t accept upholstered furniture, computers, or typewriters…but we’ll be happy with everything else!  For more information call Patty at 253-2477.
GOOD FRIDAY COLLECTION
On Good Friday, Apr. 14, our parish will take up the annual collection for the Holy Land.  We ask you to be generous.  Your financial contribution will support the works of the Catholic Community in the Middle East and to protect the Holy Places and Christian Shrines.

OUTREACH
We have added a new service to our Parish Health Ministry.  Parishioner Janet Stocker is a certified “Reach to Recovery” volunteer, and she is offering her services to those who are facing breast cancer and are in need of reassurance, answers, and comfort.  Janet is a cancer survivor who would like to help those who are dealing with this same disease.  For more information, call Janet at 252-4391, and see the brochures on the information rack in the main vestibule.

ST. VINCENT HOTEL
When was the last time you wondered where your next meal was coming from?  Our St. Vincent DePaul food pantry hears daily from our neighbors who are in need of food for their families.  To help keep our shelves stocked, we have placed a barrel in the main vestibule for you to drop your food and other non-perishable donations into.  We appreciate all you can give…but please, we CANNOT accept items that are past their expiration dates!  Dry goods, canned goods, air-tight products/packaged goods, and jarred items are most helpful.  For current, unexpired frozen items, please call Gerry McLaughlin at the Rectory.  Thanks so much!

CONTINUED RESTORATION FUND UPDATE

Great News!  Private donors have offered us a challenging opportunity: for every dollar donated by the parish, they will match it dollar for dollar, up to $25,000.  This will make a big difference in funding our next project, which is replacing the church sound system.
Total to Date       $  7,872.00
February            $     566.00
Total                $  8,438.00

EDUCATION FUND UPDATE

The Education Fund currently has a matching grant program.  For every two dollars donated to the Education Fund a generous donor will match it with one dollar.  Thank you for your support and generosity to the Education Fund.  The monies currently being collected will allow IC to continue to have tuition aid available for our qualifying families in the future.
Total to Date $    12,528.00
February $               489.00
Total:  $              13,017.00

ALTAR FLOWERS
If you would like to commemorate a special event or person with altar flowers, please contact Katherine at the Rectory at 252-9919.

PARTNERING NEWS: Ascension, IC, and St. Helen’s
On May 29, 2006, the three parishes of Ascension, Immaculate, and St. Helen’s will gather at St. Helen’s to celebrate Memorial Day Mass for our deployed and deceased military personnel.  Come join in our regional partnering mass.  All three pastors will celebrate.  In the meantime, we are looking at our mass schedules, as some alterations are being considered.

School News

STUDENT COUNCIL
Thanks to our very generous parishioners this past weekend, the Student Council received more than their goal of $2000 for their Relay for Life team.  Due to your generosity, they realized they underestimated the support this project would receive, so they will revise their original goal at their next meeting.  Thank you, IC Parishioners!

CONFIRMATION
Oops!  We mistakenly omitted a name from the list of confirmands last weekend.  Ben Connair was also confirmed by Fr. Brinkmoeller on March 19.  Congrats to Ben and all the other  students.

YOUNG SCIENTISTS
Congratulations to our science students who represented ICS and the parish so well at the District Science Fair!  Tyler Bundy, Kateri Dillon, Nathan Markley, Jack Stump, and Karen Walling all did a great job showing the community how well our students can compete with their peers.  Congratulations on a job well done, both to the students and their teachers, Mary Cordonnier and Mollie Mallin.

PARISH REGISTRATION/CHANGE OF ADDRESS

The only sure way to become a registered member of the parish family is to fill out a registration form (below) or a pew card; drop either in the collection basket, or return it to the rectory office. There is no automatic registration if you attend mass regularly, or even if your children attend Immaculate Conception School or Immaculate Conception Religious Education Classes. If you have any questions please call the Rectory at 252-9919.
