PARISH NEWS

FREE SPIRITS
Happy New Year from the over 50 crowd! Our next meeting is Wednesday, Jan. 10 at 1:00pm in MSH. Bring your pennies for Polish Poker, a friend, and a snack to share. Reminder: 2007 dues can be paid at this meeting. For more information call Mary Umina at 254-4405.

ITE MISSA EST
On Wednesday, Jan. 10, the IC Adult Faith Formation will present “Oh My God, Another Crisis!”, lessons in crisis management. This event is free, but donations are gladly accepted.

CDs & DVDs FOR SALE
Fr. Satish has prepared a two-CD set featuring “Bread of Life” and “The Eucharist Step by Step”; and a DVD with “The Eucharist Step by Step”. The CDs sell for $20, the DVD for $15, and both can be purchased for $30. The monies raised will benefit India missions and the IC Adult Faith Formation, Ite Missa Est. You can purchase the CDs and DVDs after masses, or in the Rectory during regular business hours.

PRAYER CHAIN
In Luke 11:9, Jesus says to us, “Ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find; knock and it shall be opened to you.” We encourage you to call the Prayer Chain anytime you, a friend, neighbor, or relative is in need of prayer. We have a team of 13 people who pray daily for all the requests we receive, and we invite you to join this ministry. Call Barb Kohlreiser at 258-0207 to submit a prayer request or to join the team.

TITHE ENVELOPES
Remember to pick up your 2007 tithe envelopes in the main vestibule. We ordered them for active parishioners who have used them on a regular basis in the past six months; if yours aren’t there, add you name to the list located on the table in the main vestibule, or call Katherine at the Rectory, 252-9919.

MSH USE
Many parish organizations use the various meeting rooms in Msgr. Sherman Hall during the week, and our maintenance crew works very hard to ensure that the rooms are ready. Using the parish calendar, they unlock the appropriate rooms for that day. PLEASE DO NOT close the doors when your group is finished, as the doors will lock, and other groups will not be able to get in for their meeting. Maintenance will lock up in the evening. Thanks for your help!

OUTREACH
When was the last time you wondered where your next meal was coming from? Our St. Vincent DePaul food pantry hears daily from our neighbors who are in need of food for their families. To help keep our shelves stocked, we have placed a barrel in the main vestibule for you to drop your food and other non-perishable donations. We appreciate all you can give…but please, we CANNOT accept items that are past their expiration dates.

CONTINUED RESTORATION FUND UPDATE
Private donors have offered us a challenging opportunity: for every dollar donated by the parish, they will match it dollar for dollar, up to $25,000. This will make a big difference in funding our next project: replacing the church sound system, including baffles, rewiring, acoustical adjustments, tiles, etc. Contractors are compiling estimates. We will provide more details and information to come you as it becomes available. The church boiler work will begin later this month. Thank you for your continued support!

Total to Date $ 36,255.57
November $ 2,935.50
Total $ 39,191.07

EDUCATION FUND UPDATE
The Education Fund currently has a matching grant program. For every two dollars donated to the Education Fund, a generous donor will match it with one dollar. Thank you for your support and generosity extended to the Education Fund. The monies currently being collected will allow IC to continue to have tuition aid available for our qualifying families in the future.

Total to Date $ 23,686.57
November 1,229.50
Total: $ 24,916.07

The Restoration and Education Funds are “restricted”: they do not reflect nor affect the regular operating budget which depends on your weekly tithe contributions to the Church.

ALTAR FLOWERS
If you would like to commemorate a special event or person with altar flowers, please contact Katherine at the Rectory at 252-9919.

SCHOOL NEWS

EDCHOICE VOUCHER PROGRAM
The next EdChoice application period will run from Jan. 27, 2007 – Apr. 20, 2007 for the 2007-2008 school year. Eligibility for a scholarship is determined by attendance and/or assignment to a school that has been rated in “academic emergency” or “academic watch” for the past three years. A list of these schools is posted on the EdChoice website at http://EdChoice.Ohio.gov, or you may call the school office at 253-8831.

PARISH REGISTRATION/CHANGE OF ADDRESS
Visitors and Friends: Welcome to Immaculate Conception Church! The only sure way to become a registered member of the parish family is to fill out a registration form (below) or a pew card; drop either in the collection basket, or return it to the rectory office. There is no automatic registration if you attend mass regularly, or even if your children attend Immaculate Conception School or Immaculate Conception Religious Education Classes. If you have any questions please call the Rectory at 252-9919.
