BISHOP MOEDDEL RETIRES
The Most Rev. Carl K. Moeddel submitted his resignation to Pope Benedict XVI on June 7, for reasons of ill health, and the Holy Father has accepted. Bishop Moeddel suffers from vascular dementia, connected with previous strokes and diabetes. Ordained to the priesthood in 1962, Bishop Moeddel held many positions of importance for the Archdiocese of Cincinnati; he was ordained a bishop in 1993. He has been vicar general, director of Pastoral Services and director of the Office of Priest’s Personnel, as well as auxiliary to Archbishop Pilarczyk. “I have enjoyed working with him in many capacities over the years…he has been my right-hand man. I will sorely miss having the benefit of his wisdom, energy and experience. I pray that his years of retirement will be pleasant and peaceful for him,” Archbishop Pilarczyk stated. We join the Archbishop in his good wishes and prayers for Bishop Moeddel.

WELCOME VISITORS
We are glad you are visiting us. For your information:
** Restrooms are available on the lower level of the Church.
** Hearing aides are available from the ushers.
** Please let our parishioners near you know that you are a visitor so that they may welcome you and answer any questions that you may have.

PRAYER CHAIN
In Luke 11:9, Jesus says to us, “Ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find; knock and it shall be opened to you.” We encourage you to call the Prayer Chain anytime you, a friend, neighbor, or relative is in need of prayer. We have a team of 13 people who pray daily for all the requests we receive, and we invite you to join this ministry. Call Mary Bochenek at 256-4737 to submit a prayer request or to join the team.

OUTREACH
When was the last time you wondered where your next meal was coming from? Our St. Vincent DePaul food pantry hears daily from our neighbors who are in need of food for their families. To help keep our shelves stocked, we have placed a barrel in the main vestibule for you to drop your food and other non-perishable donations. We appreciate all you can give…but please, we CANNOT accept items that are past their expiration dates.

TAX STATEMENTS
Due to recent changes in tax laws, beginning with contributions made in 2007, parishioners (who itemize their tax returns) will no longer be able to deduct contributions to the parish unless they maintain a bank record or written contribution statement from the parish. If you wish to ensure deductibility of your contributions, please use a check or your parish envelope. The parish will track contributions made using parish envelopes, and will, upon request, produce a written statement of contributions made during 2007. Cancelled checks and other bank records are also sufficient documentation. The parish cannot track cash contributions not in parish tithe envelopes. If you do not have tithe envelopes, call Katherine at 252-9919 ext 228, and she will get them ready for you.
