FIRST SATURDAY DEVOTIONS AT I.C.
Join us at 8:15am for Mass, Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, Rosary, seasonal litany, and Benediction each First Saturday of every month. Mass, Exposition, Rosary, Seasonal Litany, and Benediction are currently celebrated Tuesdays through Fridays beginning at 8:15 a.m. in the Chapel.

HOSPITAL CALLS AND VISITATION:
Please notify the Rectory if a family member is in the hospital or at home with a severe or prolonged illness. In accord with current privacy policies, hospitals do not inform us of parishioners entering the hospital; they call only at the patient’s request.

SUMMER HOURS
Until Aug. 24, the Rectory Office will be open 8:00am – 12:00pm Monday through Friday, and by appointment. The School Office will resume hours on Aug. 1.

COMMISSION NEWS
PARISH COUNCIL 2007-08
Welcome to our newest Parish Pastoral Council members! Betty Shaw and Gene Bochenek have agreed to serve three year terms on the Council; John Musto and Jack Putnam will continue on the Council. Other members include Jennifer Reese, Mike Reese, Mark Sheets, Pat Sheets, Theresa Hargis, Brian Shriver, Anthony Susainathan, and Heather Wheatley. Thanks to the entire council for offering their time and talent.

FINANCE COMMISSION
The new Chairperson for the Finance Commission is Sue Fortener. Members of the Commission are Janet Burkhardt, Sarah Hedges, and Ed McGarry. Many thanks to Debbie Stump and Mike Wagner for their years of service.

EDUCATION COMMISSION
Karen Connair will chair the Education Commission, whose members include Lori Wolff, Lori Dozer, Judy Markley, Liz Geis, Patti Sableski, and William Sangrey.

RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION FOR ADULTS
Classes for beginners began Sunday, July 1, at 9:30am in the Madonna Library; newcomers are welcome. Refreshments will be served; bring a friend or that spouse who has questions. Like the commercial says, “Almost” doesn’t do it—being there does it. For information, call the Rectory at 252-9919.

FREE SPIRITS
The next Free Spirits meeting will be held July 11 at 1pm in MSH. We will play a social dice game, so bring a snack to share and a friend to join us! Our annual picnic is scheduled for Aug. 8 at Kettering Delco Park; cost for this event is $7 per person, and you can sign up at the July meeting. For more information call Alice Schulte at 293-8773.

ITE MISSA EST
Join the IC Adult Faith Formation Ministry for “One + One = One: Foundations of Christian Marriage”. This presentation on July 11 at 7pm in MSH will feature Jason Wheatley, MSH, LISW, ACSW, Clinical Social Worker. For daily reflections and homilies, check itemissaest.org.

Immaculate Conception BINGO will be closed for the rest of the summer. We hope you will join use for the BINGO fall kickoff on Friday, Sep. 7! Have a nice summer.

PULPIT EXCHANGE
As part of the ongoing regional collaboration, the weekend of July 7 and 8, the pastors of Ascension, Immaculate Conception, and St. Helen’s will participate in a pulpit exchange. We will welcome Fr. Chris Worland of Ascension Church, Fr. Anthony Geraci will celebrate mass at St. Helen’s, and Fr. Dave Brinkmoeller will celebrate at Ascension.

Due to the Independence Day holiday printing schedule, all tithe and attendance information for June 30/July 1 will be printed in next week’s bulletin.

CONTINUED RESTORATION FUND UPDATE
Our next project is replacing the church sound system including the baffles. The preliminary estimates are between $140,000.00--$160,000.00. Phase one of this project will be the removal of the old baffles; includes brickwork and installation of the new baffles. Phase two will be the removal of the old sound system, new wiring and installation of the new equipment. Please continue your generosity.

EDUCATION FUND UPDATE
The Education Fund currently has a matching grant program. For every two dollars donated to the Education Fund, a generous donor will match it with one dollar. Thank you for your support and generosity extended to the Education Fund. The monies currently being collected will allow IC to continue to have tuition aid available for our qualifying families in the future.

The Restoration and Education Funds are “restricted”: they do not reflect nor affect the regular operating budget which depends on your weekly tithe contributions to the Church.

ALTAR FLOWERS
The altar flowers for the Independence Day mass were given to the glory of God for the work of the Church by Charlotte Flohre, in memory of Ray Flohre. If you would like to commemorate a special event or person with altar flowers, please contact Katherine at the Rectory at 252-9919.

OUT OF PARISH

HEALER TO SPEAK
Alan Ames, an Australian evangelist with a mystical prayer life and the gift of miraculous healing powers, returns to Dayton July 26 and 27 for speaking engagements and healing services. Aligned with the teachings of the Catholic Church, he has spoken at such events as the World Youth Conference with Pope John Paul II. Traveling the world since 1993, he is an internationally recognized evangelist and healer, delivering the message of Christ’s love to audiences numbering in the tens of thousands. On Thursday, July 26, mass will be celebrated at Precious Blood Catholic Church at 7pm, followed by Mr. Ames’ talk and healing service (call 276-5954 for more information). On Friday, Mass will be at 7pm at Our Lady of Good Hope, followed by the talk and healing service (call 866-1432 for more information).

PARISH REGISTRATION/CHANGE OF ADDRESS
Visitors and Friends: Welcome to Immaculate Conception Church! The only sure way to become a registered member of the parish family is to fill out a registration form (below) or a pew card; drop either in the collection basket, or return it to the rectory office. There is no automatic registration if you attend mass regularly, or even if your children attend Immaculate Conception School or Immaculate Conception Religious Education Classes. If you have any questions please call the Rectory at 252-9919.
