A YEAR OF PRAYER EUCHARISTIC ADORATION AND PRAYER
The parish theme for the new liturgical year is “Prayer. On the first Tuesday of each month, the Church will be open for prayer and adoration from 10:00am – 7:00pm. (Adoration is not exposition or benediction; it is simply adoratory prayer before the Blessed Sacrament contained in the tabernacle, and it is powerful.) Come pray for the parish and for all parishioners; pray for peace; pray for an increase in priestly and religious vocations. We are asking a commitment of one hour per month.

FIRST SATURDAY DEVOTIONS AT I.C. Join us each first Saturday at 8:15am for Mass, Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, Rosary, seasonal litany, and Benediction each First Saturday of every month beginning at 8:15 a.m. in Church. Mass, Exposition, Rosary, Seasonal Litany, and Benediction are currently celebrated Mondays through Fridays beginning at 8:15 a.m. in the Chapel, any time there is not a school mass.

VOCATION VIEWS

ROSARY ALTAR

BAPTISM PREP CLASS
The next baptism preparation session for parents seeking baptism of young children (ages 0-6) is Monday, Mar. 6 at 7:00pm in the Rectory Meeting Room. Grandparents and godparents are welcome to attend. The next class will be held in May, so if you plan to schedule a baptism before then, you must attend the March class. GOLDEN WEDDING JUBILEE
The 2006 Golden Wedding Anniversary Masses this year will include couples celebrating their 50th, 60th, 70th, and 75th wedding anniversary. Masses will be at 2:00pm in two different locations. For those couples residing in Auglaize, Champaign, Clark, Darke, Greene, Logan, Mercer, Miami, Montgomery, Preble, and Shelby Counties, the Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, April 29 at St. Christopher Church in Vandalia. OUTREACH
When was the last time you wondered where your next meal was coming from? Our food pantry at IC hears from people almost daily who are in need of food. St. Vincent DePaul handles these requests through the leadership of Gerry McLaughlin and her committee, but sometimes our supplies run low and we don’t like to turn the needy away. To help keep our shelves full year round -- and not just at holidays! -- we have placed a barrel in the main vestibule labeled “WE CARE – WE SHARE”. Please remember the hungry when you do your own grocery shopping, and place non-perishable food items in the barrel when you come to Mass. NO ONE should go hungry in our community – let’s make sure they don’t.

This will make a big difference in funding our next project, which is replacing the church sound system. For every two dollars donated to the Education Fund a generous donor will match it with one dollar. Thank you for your support and generosity to the Education Fund. PARTNERING NEWS: Ascension, IC, and St. Helen’s

INTER-PARISH MASS
The first liturgical inter-parish gathering was held here at Immaculate Conception last Sunday at the 6:00pm Rock With Jesus Mass. Over 500 people gathered for this Mass, which was concelebrated by Fr. Satish, Fr. Tony, and Fr. David Brinkmoeller, the pastor at St. Helen’s Church. Unfortunately, Fr. Chris from Ascension was not able to attend due to illness; please keep him in your prayers. Keep an eye on the bulletin for more inter-parish partnering events which will continue to bring the three parishes closer together.

INTER-PARISH SPEAKER
The next inter-parish event is at 7:00pm on Saturday, Feb. 25 at the Witzman Center at Ascension Church. Speaker Fr. Tedesco will discuss partnering on a community-wide scale; there will be a wine and cheese reception following the presentation.

School News

THANKS FROM THE ICS PTA
Many thanks to the 7th and 8th graders from ICS, Ascension, and St. Helen’s for contributing canned goods when they attended the school dance last Saturday, Feb. 11 here at IC. The kids collected three LARGE boxes of food for our own St. Vincent DePaul food pantry. This is another example of successful partnering between the three parishes!

SMOKE-FREE PTA FISH FRY! There will be food, games (including Texas Hold ‘em), drinks, and lots of friends when we get together for the PTA Annual Fish Fry on Saturday, Feb. 25 from 7:00pm – 12:00am in the ICS Auditorium. The doors open at 7:00pm, and there will be Carryout only from 6:00pm—6:30pm. Cost is $9 in advance and $10 at the door; you can purchase tickets in the School Office and in the Rectory during regular business hours.

CONGRATULATIONS!
Congratulations to the Spelling Bee and Geography Bee: First place winner in the Spelling Bee winner was 8th grader Caleb Capozella, and runner up was 6th grader Nathan Markley. In the Geography Bee, 8th grader Umberto Speranza won for the fourth straight year, and 7th grader Nathan Kenny was the runner up. Congratulations to all the students who did so well

KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION
ICS will begin accepting registrations for the 2006-07 school year on Mar. 6, from 8:00am – 3:00pm. Please bring a copy of the child’s birth certificate, social security card, and baptismal record if the child was not baptized at IC. PARTNERING NEWS MASS, 6:00pm Mass this Sunday On Sunday, Feb 12, representatives from Ascension, Immaculate Conception, and St. Helen will gather at our Rock With Jesus Mass to pray for God’s assistance, as these three parishes explore ways to develop an effective partnership. Each parish will be represented by their pastors, founding parishioners, First Communicants, members of their Parish Councils, Worship Commissions, and Partnering Committees. All parishioners are welcome to attend. The partnership is developing as the three parishes prepare for a time of fewer priests and greater involvement of the laity. IC and St. Helen are forming a pastoral region, and are developing plans for the time that they may share one pastor. Ascension is developing its own pastoral region, and is preparing for the time that it may have only one priest. GATHERING Ascension, IC, and St. Helen’s parishioners are invited to an Inter-parish Partnering Gathering on Saturday, Feb. 25 at Ascension’s Witzman Center from 7:00pm –9:00pm. SCHOOL NEWS CHORUS CONGRATULATIONS Once again our ICS 4th and 5th graders have represented the school well! Along with several other school choirs they sang at the area-wide Mass at St. Charles in honor of Catholic Schools Week on Feb. 1. On Feb. 3 they sang at the Creative Spirit Art Show at the UD Arena; they were invited as a direct result of their terrific performance at the UD Choral Adjudication in November. Thanks to our students and their Music Director Guy Vanasse for showing the Dayton community what great kids we have. EUCHARISTIC ADORATION AND PRAYER

The parish theme for the new liturgical year is “Prayer. On the first Tuesday of each month, the Church will be open for prayer and adoration from 10:00am – 7:00pm. (Adoration is not exposition or benediction; it is simply adoratory prayer before the Blessed Sacrament contained in the tabernacle, and it is powerful.) Come pray for the parish and for all parishioners; pray for peace; pray for an increase in priestly and religious vocations. We are asking a commitment of one hour per month.

FIRST SATURDAY DEVOTIONS AT I.C. Join us each first Saturday at 8:15am for Mass, Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, Rosary, seasonal litany, and Benediction each First Saturday of every month beginning at 8:15 a.m. in Church. Mass, Exposition, Rosary, Seasonal Litany, and Benediction are currently celebrated Mondays through Fridays beginning at 8:15 a.m. in the Chapel, any time there is not a school mass.

MASS FOR PARISH PARTNERING

On Sunday, Feb 12, representatives from Ascension, Immaculate Conception, and St. Helen will gather at our Rock With Jesus Mass to pray for God’s assistance, as these three parishes explore ways to develop an effective partnership. Each parish will be represented by their pastors, founding parishioners, First Communicants, members of their Parish Councils, Worship Commissions, and Partnering Committees. All parishioners are welcome to attend. The partnership is developing as the three parishes prepare for a time of fewer priests and greater involvement of the laity. IC and St. Helen are forming a pastoral region, and are developing plans for the time that they may share one pastor. Ascension is developing its own pastoral region, and is preparing for the time that it may have only one priest.

WORLD MARRIAGE DAY

World Marriage Day will be celebrated on Feb. 12, 2006. This day honors husbands and wives by saluting their faithfulness, sacrifice, and joy in daily married life.

GOLDEN WEDDING JUBILEE

The 2006 Golden Wedding Anniversary Masses this year will include couples celebrating their 50^th, 60^th, 70^th, and 75^th wedding anniversary. Masses will be at 2:00pm in two different locations. For those couples residing in Auglaize, Champaign, Clark, Darke, Greene, Logan, Mercer, Miami, Montgomery, Preble, and Shelby Counties, the Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, April 29 at St. Christopher Church in Vandalia. For those residents of Adams, Brown, Butler, Clermont, Clinton, Hamilton, Highland, and Warren Counties, the Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, May 6 at the Cathedral of St. Peter in Chains, Cincinnati.
