    EUCHARISTIC ADORATION AND PRAYER
The parish theme for the new liturgical year is “Prayer”.  On July 11, the Church will be open for prayer and adoration from 10:00am – 7:00pm.  (Adoration is not exposition or benediction; it is simply adoratory prayer before the Blessed Sacrament contained in the tabernacle, and it is powerful.) Come pray for the parish and for all parishioners; pray for peace; pray for an increase in priestly and religious vocations.  We are asking a commitment of one hour per month.  Please note the change in date for July only; in August we will resume the regular schedule of First Tuesday.

    VOCATION VIEWS

Who should you encourage to think about a religious vocation?  What would people think if you became a priest/brother/sister?  (Mark 6:1-6)

    • July 16: Basic Spiritual Health  There is a concept in therapy termed the “holistic approach” that incorporates three factors to health and wellness: the body, the mind, and the spirit.  Studies have shown that individuals with a positive spiritual life and who spend time regularly in prayer are among the overall healthiest people.  This week we will focus on the essentials of enhancing your spiritual well-being and how to incorporate more spirituality in your life.  We will also share ideas on how an individual can find time for spirituality and prayer in a world that often lacks time for these components towards a healthy self.  Handouts with practice activities and further readings will be provided.

    A YEAR OF PRAYER

    FIRST SATURDAY DEVOTIONS AT I.C.

Join us each first Saturday at 8:15am for Mass, Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, Rosary, seasonal litany, and Benediction each First Saturday of every month beginning at 8:15 a.m. in Church. Mass, Exposition, Rosary, Seasonal Litany, and Benediction are currently celebrated Mondays through Fridays beginning at 8:15 a.m. in the Chapel, any time there is not a school mass.

Many people need a healing touch.  Open your heart to the possibility that God may choose you to be a healing touch as a priest, brother, or sister.  (Mark 5:21-43)

    SUMMER HOURS
Through August 25, the Rectory Office will be open 8:00am – 12:00pm Monday through Friday, and by appointment.
We will be closed Monday, July 3 and Tuesday, July 4 in observance of Independence Day, and weekday masses will be celebrated at Ascension and St. Helen.  Immaculate Conception will have no daily services July 3—July 7. You are welcome to attend either Ascension (9:00am) or St. Helen (9:00am).  Our regular schedule resumes July 8 and 9.

    FESTIVAL NEWS

Our 51st Annual Parish Festival is just around the corner: August 18, 19, & 20, 2006.  Call Cindy 433-1013 or Julie 253-1190 for information on how to participate.

    RAFFLE UPDATE:
Tickets are still available after all Masses, and in the Rectory during business hours.  They are $20 for a chance at $20,000!  See the thermometer posted in the main vestibule for sales updates.  There is one more early bird drawing for June, so get your tickets now and have a chance at $100.  We also have ticket packs for you to take and sell.  We’re committed to selling all 2006 tickets, so if you find you can’t sell them, please return them to the Rectory, or drop them in the collection basket.

    NEW BOOTHS
for this year’s festival include: Fruit Smoothies, Corn Hole with tournaments, Soccer Score,    Dunking Booth, Raffle Baskets with Silent Auction, we’ll have fountain drinks instead of bottles, AND the school cafeteria will serve food and snacks all weekend long!

We want to thank all of you who are returning to run your booth, those who have stepped up to run an open booth, and of course, everyone who has signed up to work in one way or another: in a booth, selling and buying raffle tickets, making baskets and crafts, etc.

We still have a couple of openings:
    • JAIL ‘N’ BAIL needs a co-chair to work the “judge’s desk” when those arrested are brought for sentencing.  Call Steve Saus at 256-0184 for more information.
    • SOCCER SCORE needs both a chair and a co-chair.  This booth will be set up beside the school auditorium.  We have the full-size goal lined up and CHS players to guard it.  Now all we need is someone to organize it!  Call Cindy or Julie for more information.
    • COUNTRY STORE needs your handcrafted items.  Join Susan Hill and Julie Wetzel for craft making every Wednesday from 7:00pm – 9:00pm in the Girl Scout Room in the church undercroft.  Bring your new or unfinished crafts to work on with other dedicated crafters.
    • RAFFLE BASKET/SILENT AUCTION BOOTH needs your donations.  Put together a theme basket with gift certificates, food items, hand crafted items, etc.  We will display the baskets in a booth, and sell raffle tickets to win them.  You can drop them off at the Rectory during office hours, or call Cindy or Julie about picking them up.

    FREE SPIRITS

    RCIA/ADULT EDUCATION
Join us for the newly redesigned RCIA/Adult Education program in the Madonna Library.  Fr. Tony will lead RCIA and discussion of Faith, Scripture, and Church from 9:00am – 9:40am. Jason Wheatley, IC parishioner and Licensed Independent Social Worker, in private practice at Professional Psychology and Consultation, Inc., will lead classes from 9:45am –10:40am.  Bring a notebook and your enthusiasm for topics ranging from the Catholic faith to basic communication skills to health and wellness.      Our upcoming topics will include:
    • July 9:    Basic Emotional Health  People often underestimate the power that good emotional health has on our overall physical health.  For example, how may of us know someone who overeats when experiencing a high amount of stress?  This week will introduce you to some essential concepts that help to improve and change the way we think and feel, as well as some techniques for self-care.  We will also discuss how past experiences cause people to underestimate their potential for success and how that might affect their overall well-being.  Handouts with practice activities and further readings will be provided.
    • July 16: Basic Spiritual Health
    • July 23: Basic Financial Health
    • July 30    : Wrap up and Evaluation

    OUTREACH
When was the last time you wondered where your next meal was coming from?  Our St. Vincent DePaul food pantry hears daily from our neighbors who are in need of food for their families.  To help keep our shelves stocked, we have placed a barrel in the main vestibule for you to drop your food and other non-perishable donations.  We appreciate all you can give…but please, we CANNOT accept items that are past their expiration dates!
