12 TIPS FOR STRENGTHENING CATHOLIC FAMILIES

1.    Plan and do things together as a family.

2.    Pray daily for each family member.

3.    Eat meals together.

4.    Go to church as a family.

5.    Ask for forgiveness from each other.

6.    Go to the sacraments together.

7.    Pray together – when the Spirit leads you!

8.    Choose a patron saint for yourself and also for your family.

9.    Cultivate family customs – use the old and create new ones.

10.  Pray for vocations to married life, as well as to the priesthood and religious life.

11.  Celebrate family anniversaries, baptisms and birthdays.

12.  Tell stories of faith from your family history.

WELCOME VISITORS!

We are glad you are visiting us. For your information:

1) Restrooms are available on the lower level.

2) Hearing aides are available from the ushers.

3) Please let our parishioners near you know that you are a visitor so that they may welcome you and answer any questions that you may have.

PRAYER CHAIN

In Luke 11:9, Jesus says to us, “Ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find; knock and it shall be opened to you.”  We encourage you to call the Prayer Chain anytime you, a friend, neighbor, or relative is in need of prayer.  We have a team of 13 people who pray daily for all the requests we receive, and we invite you to join this ministry.  Call Mary Bochenek at 256-4737 to submit a prayer request or to join the team.

TAX STATEMENTS

Due to recent changes in tax laws, beginning with contributions made in 2007, parishioners (who itemize their tax returns) will no longer be able to deduct contributions to the parish unless they maintain a bank record or written contribution statement from the parish.  If you wish to ensure deductibility of your contributions, please use a check or your parish envelope.  The parish will track contributions made using parish envelopes, and will, upon request, produce a written statement of contributions made during 2007.  Cancelled checks and other bank records are also sufficient documentation.  The parish cannot track cash contributions not in parish tithe envelopes.  If you do not have tithe envelopes, call the office at 252-9919, and we will get them ready for you.

WORD OF LIFE

Side by side with exemplary families, there are often others that are unfortunately marked by the frailty of conjugal bonds, the scourge of abortion and the demographic crisis, little attention of teaching authentic values to the children… and a growing sense of inner bewilderment among the young people… For this reason, every Ecclesial Community… is called to be a reference point and to enter into dialogue with the Community of which it is an integral part. …[Never] tire of always being courageous defenders of life and of the family. …  (Benedict XVI, Address to Bishops of Lithuania, Estonia and Latvia, June 23, 2006)
