Join the IC Adult Faith Formation Ministry for “Holy Smoke!”, the spark behind the theology of Benedict XVI. This presentation on June 13 at 7pm in MSH will feature Dennis Doyle, Ph.D., University of Dayton. For daily reflections and homilies, check itemissaest.org.

THANKS…
We have received letters thanking us for our donations to the H.O.P.E. Lenten Project:
Fr. Peter Klink writes from the Red Cloud Indian School in Pine Ridge, SD, that “your gift will be used to purchase much needed books for the Accelerated Reader Program at the high school…the addition of new book titles is a blessing. Please keep the children and the ministry here in your prayers and know that you are in ours.”
Rev. Myron Effing of the Mary Mother of God Mission Society in Eastern Russia tells us that they are planning for the ordination to the deaconate of Bro. Oleg Yelchaninov—an important moment for Russia because there have been so few vocations, and too few vocations to fill the need. They are planning a reconsecration of their church on Oct. 7, and are anxiously awaiting the installation of the new stained glass windows.

CATCH THE BUILDING SPIRIT…
…is an organization of Dayton area Catholic and Presbyterian volunteers who cooperate in building a Habitat for Humanity House. They are ready to begin their 14th house, located on Tennyson Avenue in Dayton, and they need your help with: Volunteers to work on the house, cash contributions to defray the cost of building materials, and “in kind” donations by skilled craftsmen or businesses. Please see the information available in the main vestibule.

PRAYER CHAIN
In Luke 11:9, Jesus says to us, “Ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find; knock and it shall be opened to you.” We encourage you to call the Prayer Chain anytime you, a friend, neighbor, or relative is in need of prayer. We have a team of 13 people who pray daily for all the requests we receive, and we invite you to join this ministry. Call Mary Bochenek at 256-4737 to submit a prayer request or to join the team.

OUTREACH
When was the last time you wondered where your next meal was coming from? Our St. Vincent DePaul food pantry hears daily from our neighbors who are in need of food for their families. To help keep our shelves stocked, we have placed a barrel in the main vestibule for you to drop your food and other non-perishable donations. We appreciate all you can give…but please, we CANNOT accept items that are past their expiration dates.

ST. VINCENT DEPAUL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
Please be aware that on occasion, some in need will show up at weekend services. Please do not give cash to anyone, as providing cash instead of referring them to the SVdP assistance program defeats the process. We appreciate your concern, but SVdP has a process for a reason. Please don’t allow yourself to be a victim of a scam! SVdP operates Monday through Thursday, 8am – 4pm, and Fridays 8am—12pm by appointment.

TAX STATEMENTS
Due to recent changes in tax laws, beginning with contributions made in 2007, parishioners (who itemize their tax returns) will no longer be able to deduct contributions to the parish unless they maintain a bank record or written contribution statement from the parish. If you wish to ensure deductibility of your contributions, please use a check or your parish envelope. The parish will track contributions made using parish envelopes, and will, upon request, produce a written statement of contributions made during 2007. Cancelled checks and other bank records are also sufficient documentation. The parish cannot track cash contributions not in parish tithe envelopes. If you do not have tithe envelopes, call Katherine at 252-9919 ext 228, and she will get them ready for you.

PARTNERING
The work of diocesan parish relationships/cooperatives continues with a three-some partnering meeting with Ascension, Immaculate Conception, and St. Helen’s on June 17. The regional relationship, two-some, will meet at St. Helen’s (Immaculate and St. Helen’s) on June 23.

The deanery schools planning process moves into a time period of commitment from June 2007 through the fall of 2007. Slowly we will make steps toward doing things together as schools that we cannot do apart.
