FESTIVAL FUN!
Thank you to all who have volunteered for and are supporting the 52nd Annual Parish Festival. Make sure you stop by the festival grounds on Saturday, open till 11:00pm, and Sunday 1:00pm – 10:00pm. Play some Corn Hole, try some curry at the India Food Booth, enjoy a beverage, and play a few hands of Showdown or Black Jack. Don’t forget to check out the treasures at the Flea Market! There are plenty of activities for children in the Kid Zone and other kid-friendly booths. See you on the Midway!

FIRST TUESDAY MASSES
Beginning September 4 and continuing on the first Tuesday of each month, our morning mass will be celebrated at The Sanctuary Retirement Home on Wayne Ave (located behind 10 Wilmington Place.) We invite all parishioners to join us for mass at 10:30a.m. Due to this new schedule, we will NOT celebrate mass in the Immaculate Conception Chapel on those Tuesdays.

ICS CLASS OF 1957

CONTINUED RESTORATION FUND UPDATE
Our next project is replacing the church sound system including the baffles. The preliminary estimates are between $140,000.00--$160,000.00. Phase one of this project will be the removal of the old baffles; includes brickwork and installation of the new baffles. Phase two will be the removal of the old sound system, new wiring and installation of the new equipment. Please continue your generosity.

EDUCATION FUND UPDATE
The Education Fund matching grant program has been renewed. For every two dollars donated to the Education Fund, a generous donor will match it with one dollar. Thank you for your support and generosity extended to the Education Fund. The monies currently being collected will allow IC to have tuition aid available for our qualifying families in the future. We begin new with the fiscal year for the following year.

SCHOOL NEWS

INFORMATION DAY: August 21, 7:30am – 1pm and 4:30pm –6:30pm
Get ready for the new school year! Registered students should come to the ICS Cafeteria and Office to pick up their information packets, sign up for the lunch program and the Falcon Club (before and after school care program). Order your gym clothes, pay a visit to your classroom, and check out the various volunteer opportunities available. Call the Office at 253-8831 for more information.

The FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL is Thursday, Aug. 23. For the safety of all, please be aware of the students in and around the Parish grounds, especially the parking lots.

LABELS FOR EDUCATION
We are again participating in the Campbell’s Labels for Education Program, where we redeem various product labels for educational items chosen by our faculty. Campbell’s will only accept the UPC and the “Labels for Education” symbol, usually located on the back of the food item. They will no longer accept the front label. You can leave your labels in the collection boxes in the south and main vestibules, put them in the collection basket at Mass, drop them off at the Rectory, or send/take them directly to school. We’re always looking for volunteers to trim labels, so call Betty Mueller at 253-7275 if you can help.

ANNIVERSARY MASS
Mary, Help of Christians Catholic School will celebrate its 50th anniversary during the 2007-08 school year. DIVORCE CARE
A special help seminar and support group for adults experiencing divorce or separation will be held on Thursday evenings, from 7pm –9pm, Sept. 6 –Dec. 6 at St. Francis of Assisi. DivorceCare features nationally recognized experts on divorce and recovery topics such as anger, loneliness, and new relationships. DivorceCare For Kids is another support group that will run concurrently with the adult sessions. It is a special place for children ages 5-12 to find help and healing. MARIAN EXHIBIT
The Marian Library at UD is featuring a traveling exhibit exploring representations of the Blessed Virgin Mary by artists from the Catholic, Protestant, and Orthodox religions. “Highly Favored: Contemporary Images of the Virgin Mary” features 36 pieces in a variety of media from photography to sculpture. The exhibit is on display in the gallery on the main floor of the Roesch Library through Sep. 12, and is free and open to the public. DANCE LESSONS
Marian’s Dance Studio on Watervliet is enrolling students for professional training in ballet, tap. Jazz, acrobatics, piano, and modeling. For information, call Marian Volk at 252-0000.

MARRIAGE AND FAMILY LIFE
What have you done for your marriage today? That’s the question the Catholic Church asks in a series of TV and radio spots launched recently. The answers come from people interviewed on the street, and show that short-term kindnesses cement a lifelong relationship. You can see the ads at www.foryourmarriageorg/.

POSITION OPENING
St. Christopher Parish is looking for a pianist-keyboard musician to play and lead an adult 35-member choir at the 9:00am mass on Sunday. This person is responsible for a weekly choir practice, selection of music, and liturgical season coordination with other parish liturgy groups. COUNSELING ASSISTANCE FUND
The Catholic Bishops, through the Catholic Conference of Ohio, have created a fund to help adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse as minors by clergy or other representative so the Catholic Church. This fund is specifically directed toward those who are reluctant to contact the Church for help. For more information, please call 1-800-366-0494, or see www.counselingassistancefund.org.

If you know someone who has been abused at any time by an agent of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, the Archdioceses urges you to contact Sr. Mary Garke, the Victim’s Assistance Coordinator at 513-421-3131 ext 352, or 800-686-2724, as well as the victim’s secular legal authorities.

FESTIVAL NEWS
The 52nd Annual Summer Festival is just around the corner: Friday, Aug. 17, 7pm—11pm; Saturday, Aug. 18, 1pm –11pm, and Sunday, Aug. 19, 1pm –11pm. Look at all the excitement coming up:
**Festival construction continues Monday, August 13, 6:00pm until dusk. Come help set up the booths that make our festival the best around! Call Tom at 252-2250 for information.
**The Flea Market is taking your donations Monday, Aug. 13, and continuing through Thursday, Aug. 16 from 10:00a – 6:00p. All items must be in working order (nothing torn or soiled, please!), and computers and typewriters are not accepted. The Flea Market will open at 12:00pm on Friday, Aug. 17. Hope to see you there!
**Make a basket for the Silent Auction/Basket Raffles! This booth needs all kinds of baskets made; they can be any theme you wish. For information call Janice or Mark at 469-3949.
**Can you bake? Then pick up a pie tin or cake plate in the vestibules, or stop by the Rectory. The ICS Alumni are in need of your delicious offerings for the Cake Booth. Call Karen at 291-4021 for information.

**Kids: Do you like to ride the Festival rides? Murray Bros. Offers a rides special on Saturday and Sunday afternoons, from 1pm—4pm: unlimited rides for only $12 per wristband (some rides are not included in the special).

GERMANFEST
The 24th annual Dayton Liederkranz Germanfest will be held on Aug. 10-12, at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds. Hear live music, try some German dancing, enjoy the traditional Bavarian costumes and lots of ethnic foods: schnitzel dinners, German potato salad and Bavarian pork chops, cabbage rolls, and of course, a great selection of German beer. UNITED HEALTH SOLUTIONS

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UD offers senior adults in the Greater Miami Valley opportunities to join informal discussion seminars based on the peer-learning concept. UDLLI members meet weekly with an informed leader to study a topic for their own satisfaction; they join seminars for the fun of reviving a long-neglected interest, exploring a new field or topic, satisfying curiosity and interacting with others. We are now accepting registrations for the fall program, which begins Sept. 10.
